The end?

Hey guys, I originally started this blog as a school assignment and today id like to touch down on that again:

Over the past couple of week I’ve actually really enjoyed writing this blog. I love makeup and if you know me at all, that’s usually what I’m talking about anyways. I’ve learned a lot when it comes to my blog and putting content together for others to read and I’ve also learned about people viewing your blog and interacting with it. For example, as a requirement we had to promote our blog post on twitter, sometimes I ONLY promoted on twitter but other times I also promoted on Facebook. When I promoted on Facebook I got a lot more views and the first time I did it I also got some follower on my blog. Obviously sharing my content on Facebook was a lot more beneficial to me and my blog rather than sharing it on twitter. One thing that I really wish I would have included in my blog for my assignment was a video/tutorial type post. Unfortunately, my camera shyness got the better of me and I was not able to bring myself to actually do a video tutorial. (but maybe in the future?)

In my opinion this experience has benefited me so much. Like I mentioned before, I always wanted to do a beauty blog/vlog but I’ve always been shy and I was afraid for people to read/see my work. There is so much judgment in the beauty world but this assignment really made me remember that makeup is fun and it’s a form of expression. There isn’t just a right or wrong way to do things. I will take the lesson I learned with this assignment into my future, not being afraid to let my opinion be heard.

Screenshot 2017-04-25 13.42.59 As you can tell, my most popular week was the week of Feb 6. I got 76 views and visitors that week. My worst week has been my current week because I have not posted anything this week (I will).

My most popular post is “Lash out” with 72 views. I think this is my most popular post because this is the first post I shared on Facebook AND on twitter. I talked about this before and said sharing my posts on Facebook helped me get more views and some followers.

Over all I didn’t really have anything surprising when it came to my blog. I did have a few views outside of the United States and I honestly never expected to get followers, outside of my family and friends. This has been a great experience and I have loved every second i’ve spend on this blog.

Who doesnt love DUPES!

Although I do love to splurge when it comes to makeup its always rewarding when you find an amazing product that does the same thing for a fraction of the price. Lets get real, who doesn’t love a good dupe?

lets talk foundation first: By far, foundation dupes are the hardest thing for me to find. I love my skin and when it comes to a product that is directly applied to the whole face, I want to make sure its going to be good and work for me. Ive been searching far and wide for a dupe of my favorite foundation (Laura Geller Baked liquid radiance) but I haven’t been about to fine one. Fortunately, I have been able to find dupes for some other foundations that I love!
20170423_172046795_iOS1. MAC studio fix fluid foundation SPF 15 ($28) VS Maybelline fit me matte + poreless foundation ($6): Studio fix is one of MACs best foundations with medium coverage that isn’t drying to the skin. When looking at drug store products, Maybelline fit me is very similar to Studio fix because they have a very similar finish and although it does say matte, it isnt overly drying and someone like me, with dry skin, can use it also. They both also come in a big variety of shades.

2. Kat Von D lock it foundation ($35) VS NYX invincible fullest coverage foundation ($12): Kat Von D’s foundation has an amazing matte finish and is completely full coverage but the NYX fullest coverage foundation also has amazing coverage and does a great job of covering scars and has a long lasting matte finish, which is similar to Kat Von D, for only a fraction of the price?

20170423_171948639_iOSAs a medium skin toned woman, I love bronzers and I have 2 favorites that I consider dupes for each other: Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte bronzer ($29) VS NYX Matte Bronzer ($9): Stating the obvious, they are both matte bronzers and the NYX one is a whole 20 dollars less…. To be completely honest, while I love my Hoola bronzer, I love the NYX one and recommend it even more. They are both very easy to blend BUT the NYX one does feel creamier to me and it comes in different shades for woman with deeper skin tones.

20170423_172114781_iOSFinally… highlights have really been popular this year (2016-2017) and one of the most popular OG highlighters (to me) that I still use is Becca X Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop  ($38) (of course I own champagne pop). There are many MANY dupes for champagne pop but to me the most similar is  ELF baked eyeshadow in Enchanted ($3): WOW 33 dollars less… that is a pretty big difference and they do look very similar although the consistency is a bit different to me.

SOOOO thats it guys, if you’re ballin on a budget and want to save some money, you might want to check out a few of these dupes and possibly find some of your own!

easy eyeliner

I often hear people talk about how they can never get their eyeliner right so they just don’t do eyeliner… well here are the steps I use to do my eyeliner:

before we get into all these steps lets just take some time to talk about my personal favorite eyeliners. Two out of the three that ill be talking about today are from Tarte. The first is Tartiest clay paint eyeliner, I love this eyeliner because it resembles a gel liner instead of a liquid eyeliner and when I first started doing eyeliner, gel was a lot less messier to me than liquid was. My next favorite is also from Tarte, Tartiest double take eyeliner, I love this one for different reasons. First of all this eyeliner is both liquid AND pencil! Honestly, Its so much easier to have 2 in 1 rather than having 2 different products. The double take eyeliner is also the blackest eyeliner i’ve ever used. Last but not least, I love Revlon ColorStay liquid eyeliner. This is a drug store eyeliner and its less than half the cost of the other two that I mentioned above. Its also very back and easy to work with.

Now with that aside we can talk about how to easily do eyeliner: (steps explained in detail below slideshow)

  1. start with a clean face and prime your eyes. Typically I just use concealer to prime my eyes and then set it with a translucent setting powder – some people actually buy eye primers. Do what works for you.
  2. DO YOUR EYEBROWS BEFORE YOU DO YOUR EYELINER! Your eyebrows will be a guide for your wing – if your eyebrows are even you can look at them to keep your wing even also. (I use ABH brow wiz and dip brow to fill in my eyebrows)
  3. OPTIONAL: apply eye shadow or not. Whatever look your going for is fine.
  4. draw a straight line angled towards the end of your eyebrow (its a guide!) the liner can be as short or as long as you’d like – just depends on weather you want a smaller wing/thin eyeliner or a big and bold wing/liner.
  5. About 1/4 down start another line and connect it to the bottom of your eye lid to create the wing.
  6. Start at the corner of your eye and draw to the end of the previous line
  7. fill it in and repeat this process on the other eye. Now you just apply the rest of your makeup and you have a completed look!

When in doubt, just add glitter!

I’ve been wanting to try something new and I’ve never used glitter but I’ve always seen people do it so I decided to purchase some: I bought these for about 10 dollars  from amazon. I just searched cosmetic eye glitter and the ones I ordered are from BeautyTreats.

I did a quick look after receiving these in the mail using the Morphe 35O palette  and 2 of the glitters out of the 6

I used #1 on the palette all over the lid, #2 as my transition color only in the crease of my eye (also a great color to keep the look warm), #3 over the transition color but not as high and 4 packed in the outer corner of the eye for depth. I used a clean brush to blend this at the end and as you might have noticed, I didn’t focus on the lid of the eye because that’s where I was going to apply the glitter. After applying the eye shadow and getting it how I liked, I mixed the silver and some gold together in a small pot. I used Nyx glitter glue on a flat brush and smoothed it out over the lid and carefully pressed the glitter on with my finger.

Glitter review: overall I liked the glitter for the price. I’ve definitely seen other glitters that are very chunky and that’s definitely not what I wanted. These are pretty fine milled but as I said before, this is my first time using glitter on my eyes so  I will be trying out some different glitter brands.

Anastasia / Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit

FullSizeRender - CopyFullSizeRender - Copy (2)If you know me at all you know Im all about highlighters so when I saw this new Glow Kit was launching, I had to have it! I purchased this Anastasia Beverly Hills/Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit for 40 dollars at Sephora. It is limited edition and is unfortunately sold out on the website at the moment, but you could always check your local Sephora store for availaility.

The original Glow Kits come with only 4 colors but like the ultimate glow kit, this one comes with 6. I recommend this glow kit to people with medium to dark skin but if you are fair skinned you could also use a few of the colors as highlights and the remaining ones as eye shadows so you don’t waste your money. Below I will be adding swatches of each color:

Im obsessed with this highlighting palette! All of the colors are very pigmented and creamy. They highlight beautifully, aren’t glittery, and they are all usable for my skin tone. This palette has been getting so much hype online and I can definitely see why. So worth the 40 dollars! Im really praying they do another restock because its limited edition, more people need to get their hands on this if they can!

Lip Injections.

If you pay any attention to social media and celebrities, you can tell that getting lip injections and having fuller lips is kind of a thing at the moment (thanks, Kylie Jenner). As yall know, I’m a college student so I obviously don’t have the money to just go get lip injections BUT I did stumble along a beauty product that claims to give you that lip injection look!

This isn’t a new product but it is new to me: lip injection from too faced. I purchased this around the holidays in a gift set and totally forgot I had it until the other day when I was cleaning my makeup drawers out.  I did a bit of research before trying it and I did notice that they now have an upgrade, lip injection extreme.

SO, does in work? I’ll let you be the judge of that.

The first picture is a before. The last two are after; one with and one without lipstick over top. Overall I didn’t really like the product and I don’t think I would continue to use or ever purchase again. About 30 seconds after putting it on my lips, it started to burn so bad but I left it on to get the full effect. I waited about 5 minutes after applying to take it off with a napkin and apply lipstick. I noticed a slight difference but not a difference worth the pain or money I spent on it.

I can’t speak for the newer version, lip injection extreme. Maybe one day I will give it a try! Let me know if yall have had any luck with the new formula!
